Races

Starting with the PHB, and using humans as a balancing point, there are some races that are a little better than others, but the two that come up noticeably short are half-elves and half-orcs. Other changes reflect general changes to other parts of the system (such as skill names and removal of multiclass penalties)

General Changes

Replace Small races' +4 bonus to Hide checks with +4 bonus to Stealth checks.
Remove Favored class, since multiclassing imposes no experience point penalty.

Dwarf

Replace Stonecunning's +2 bonus to Search checks with +2 bonus to Perception checks.
Replace Stability's +4 bonus against bull rush and trip checks with +4 bonus to Combat Maneuver Bonus when defending.
Remove +2 racial bonus on Appraise checks that are related to stone or metal items. Appraising items is now handled by other skills.

Elf

Replace +2 racial bonus to Listen, Search and Spot checks with +2 racial bonus to Perception checks.
Add +1 racial bonus to attacks against orcs and half-orcs.

Gnome

Replace +2 bonus to Listen checks with +2 bonus to Perception checks.

Half-Elf

Replace +1 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks with +1 racial bonus to Perception checks.
Replace +2 racial bonus on Diplomacy and Gather Information checks with +2 racial bonus to Persuasion checks.
Add one bonus skill point at each level as humans.

Half-Orc

Remove -2 penalty to Charisma.
Add 1 bonus feat at first level.

Halfling

Replace +2 racial bonus on Climb, Jump, Listen, and Move Silently checks with +2 racial bonus to Athletics checks.
Add racial weapon proficiency in slings, darts, and daggers.

Human

Humans remain the same as they are in the PHB.
